A new iPhone application championed by Allergy UK is set to transform the way that people suffering from food allergies and intolerances do their shopping.

From the end of 2010, customers will be able to download the Foodwiz app from the internet and quickly see whether a supermarket product is suitable for their diet, just by scanning the on-pack barcode.

Supported by Asda, the app eliminates the need for allergy sufferers to trawl through ingredients lists - instead, having preselected the ingredients they want to avoid, they'll be able to determine, almost instantly, whether a product is suitable for them.

Currently available exclusively for the iPhone, Foodwiz will be rolled out to all the popular mobile platforms, including Symbian (Nokia), Android and Blackberry, over the next few months.

Visit Foodwiz for more information.
